Search the Mass Observation Archive Writers Database

You can search the database of Mass Observation Archive writers from 1981 to the present day. The results can be viewed on screen, or can be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet.
Simple filters can be applied here, but for more complicated searching we recommend downloading the data as an Excel spreadsheet and using it to filter the data.
Selected results can be added to a list so you can create a basket of responses you are interested in.
The Introduction and FAQ page explains more about the archive, what the different categories such as occupation and deprivation index mean, and about the data in the database.
The document Mass Observation Website Tutorial.pdf gives examples, with screenshots, of how to use the site to complete different tasks such as downloading all the data as an Excel spreadsheet.
If you have any problems using the site please do contact us using the email given above.
